Annie is a single, thirty-something grad student with a one-bedroom apartment and two cats. Paul, a 60-year-old cartoonist, is recently widowed and moves across the hall into a slightly more spacious unit. Annie’s quirky, social proclivities challenge the quiet nest Paul was hoping to create during his next, unexpected stage in life. With a gaggle of important peripheral figures, THE AWED COUPLE explores how new neighbours navigate tenderness, tension, and trauma in a love letter to an unlikely, yet much-needed friendship.
