DESCRIPTION:We’re back for another showcase of our StART Mentorship Program! This year\, we’ve had 12 participants work with professional mentors in their respective disciplines to create new works and level up their skills\, showcasing them from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm on August 8th! \nFeaturing Music performances by O’sound\, Quoia States\, QStatess\, Dxrien\, Yohvn Blvck\, & Kxng Wooz \nSpoken Word and Acting performances by Andre Fenton\, Damini Awoyiga\, Drue Robyn \nDance Performances by Natorious\, HiFi\, Tempo\, DBlais\, & Mayday \n& Tech by Myles Bradley and Cyrus Barton \nFree admission (donations welcome!) \nDoors will be open at 5:30 pm for artists looking to network in the community\, show starts at 6:30 pm! \nSeats are limited\, so please register through this link to reserve your spot! \nhttps://forms.gle/2GxBSQs2nkaBNNoS8 \nHere’s the link For the Workshops:  https://forms.gle/q8CyTx7b6eB6TJDQ7 \nWe’ll be hosting a round of free workshops for artists in the community \n\nSustainability in the arts: Owen ‘O’Sound’ Lee\, Jordan ‘Tempo’ Farmer\n12:00 pm – 1:00 pm\n \nIn this workshop O’Sound and Tempo will talk about navigating the landscape of a professional full time musician\, how to find gigs and advocate for yourself. Tips on transitioning from emerging to established artist\, budgeting templates\, finding funding opportunities\, training out of province to establish yourself back home\, and give insight into what next steps you should take as an artist!\n \nProfessional Artist Checklist: Justin David\, Jordan (Tempo) Farmer\, Andre Fenton\, Amelia George\n1:00 pm – 2:00 pm\n \nIn this workshop a panel of creatives who work full time in the arts and performance spaces will give you a full checklist on everything you need to be confident as a professional artist. Do’s and Dont’s when working with other industry professionals and etiquette to ensure callbacks and longevity within your career.\n\nGrant Writing 101:  Various Facilitators\n2:00 pm – 3:00 pm\n\nIn Grant Writing 101 we will analyze how to find grants for your projects\, how to know if your project is eligible\, the application process\, and take a deep dive into Schedules of Work\, Budgets\, and Support Material Annotations\, focusing on hitting all the marks the assessment committee is looking for!\n\n\nGreat for first time applicants\, or those who feel overwhelmed about cracking into the grant-writing process.\n\n\n\nCreative Writing Workshop: Andre Fenton  \n\n3:00 pm – 4:00 pm\n\nIn this versatile writing workshop with Andre Fenton we will look at poetry through a perspective of handling your audience with care. We will focus on building resilience in our stories\, and digging deep into self-reflection. With warm up writing exercises and activities we will explore different aspects of spoken word. Participants will leave with tips and tricks to overcome writer’s block\, learning how to outline a piece from beginning to end\, and with a few new poems along the way. This will be a place for folks to share their progress and work in a supportive\, welcoming environment. This workshop is for both experienced\, and new poets!\n\n\nRegistration to attend the workshops are free\, however we will be accepting donations to help fund future BSTC programming.
