SUMMARY:BoxWhatBox: Alternative Acting for the 21st Century
DESCRIPTION:BoxWhatBox: Alternative acting for the 21st century \nBoxWhatBox is a system of performance creation and actor training devised by Michael Devine\, a Canadian theatre artist who has created and directed productions in more than 20 countries\, at national theatres\, international theatre festivals\, and as site specific installations. In BoxWhatBox actors learn how to organize and use what they already know: the four expressive vocabularies of voice\, verbal and non-verbal\, and of posture and gesture. They learn how to identify and discard what holds them back: habits of mind and body. BoxWhatBox actors perform interculturally: across different cultures and genres\, from established plays to original material. \nThis will be a 4 hour workshop followed by a dinner and discussion.\n$50 per person or $40 for BSTC Members**. Please include any food allergies\, etc. and we will be happy to accommodate. \n**We never want price to be the reason you don’t take a workshop. DESCRIPTION:The Bus Stop Theatre Coop – Trade School Workshop Series \nFREE to Co-op Members\, $30 each for public.\n*Join the co-op now for discounts! \nSPACE IS VERY LIMITED\, and will be offered on a first-come\, first-serve basis.\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER  \nBLACK BOX BASICS (Beginner Level Workshop) \nLearn the basics of how to run lights at the Bus Stop!\nThis Black Box Basics workshop is facilitated by Merritt award-winning technician/designer Matthew Downey and will provide the opportunity for participants to learn about technical theatre. It will give participants the skill-set to be able to run the lighting equipment of the Bus Stop (or any other similar black box theatre)\, as well as briefly touch on lighting design for small spaces. Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on usage of the equipment\, and will be instructed in the capabilities of a wide range of technical equipment and tips on how to wrangle such equipment in various spaces.

We’re not changing our purpose\, we’re living up to it. Come join in: Our Annual General Meeting is on April 28th\, and you’re invited! \nAt the AGM\, we’ll be reviewing some of our accomplishments over the last year\, and there’ll be an update on our plans for 2019 and the future of the BSTC in this critic year. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions about the theatre\, and you’ll be able get involved by signing up as a committee volunteer. Membership sign-ups and renewals at all levels will also be available.
