DESCRIPTION:Hughie Batherson has been in high demand as a standup comedian in the Atlantic provinces and across the Country. He has been featured on the TV Comedy Show ‘’Sens du Punch’’ and has done two ‘’Juste pour rire’’ Tours \, Hughie has participated in the Hubcap Comedy Festival has headlined Comedy Clubs\, Bar Shows and Theaters across the Atlantic provinces. He has performed in Saskatchewan\, Ontario\, Quebec\, New Brunswick\, Newfoundland\, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Hughie is known for his clean adult material\, and uses physical comedy (impressions\, imitations \, singing and dancing) along with his ‘’East-coast story-telling’’ delivery to entertain audiences. He does standup in both English and French . Hughie is from North Sydney\, NS. \nSkeeter MacMillan\nSkeeter is the side-kick of Standup comedian Hughie Batherson and came to life as an on-line all-round East coast fellow whose online videos has garnered over a half of a million views \, and have been showcased by Maritime radio stations. His Cape Breton story telling technique as well as his innocent and clean perception of life always bring waves of laughter and good-cheer to his audience. Tell your friends\, share our social media posts\, encourage Northenders in your life to come!\n\nWhat is the money for? \nGreat question. We’re seeking funds for 4 projects.\nThe first is sound dampening. You might be aware that the lobby is a very resonant space\, and these funds will add baffling that will better separate the two spaces.\n\nThe second is for 360 video conferencing technology. This will be used by staff for meetings as well as provided to renters. This is necessary as meetings are increasingly using a hybrid virtual/in person model.\nThis third is to commission a local artist to paint a mural on our exterior back wall. The new community room is receiving increased use\, and the mural will both beautify the back entrance\, as well as make the entrance more visible from its Maitland Street location.\nFinally\, we will use funds to acquire live streaming equipment. Since lockdown\, and still years after\, live streaming has become an increasingly popular request in the space. We are seeking this equipment to remain responsive to the needs of our membership.

DESCRIPTION:On August 25th\, join us for a smorgasbord of performances in honour of the Bus Stop Theatre’s 20th Anniversary! \nInterested in volunteering at the event? Drop us a line! \nThe Bus Stop Theatre is celebrating 20 years of being a community hub for artists of all disciplines and backgrounds with 20 events from over 20 different artists. Friday August 25th\, join us for a drop-in day of performances from local artists\, food\, and fun activities! \nWith theatrical performances from ZUPPA\, The Villains Theatre\, and Keith Morrison\, standup comedy from Adam Myatt\, a breakdance cypher with the F.L.A.S.H. Crew\, spoken word from Andre Fenton\, music from Page. 20 Band\, Cong Chen\, Riley Reign\, Psiren\, and General Khan\, burlesque performances from Elle Lixer\, Cyd Chartreuse\, Aiya Xiaoxin\, Tishina La Tush\, Tiny Orchid and members of Atlantic Boylesque and visual art from Sydney Wreaks. Our lineup reflects some of the diverse array of art forms presented at the Bus Stop Theatre over the years.  Plus\, check out our Bingo\, BBQ\, door prizes\, 50/50\, Penny Auction\, Facepainting\, Photobooth\, Bus Stop Memories\, and more! \n“The Bus Stop Theatre has been a vital arts hub for twenty years\, which is an astounding feat. The theatre exists thanks to the hard work of many volunteers whose dreams of an accessible black box venue on Gottingen street has made the Bus Stop what it is today\,” says Colleen MacIsaac\, founding Board member of the Co-op and interim General Manager. “Come out to the theatre to drop in for any of these amazing performances\, check out what the theatre is like\, or even to record a memory you might have about the Bus Stop. Whether you are discovering it for the first time or have seen the theatre through its 20 year history\, we welcome you to come celebrate with us!” \nWe are also premiering a special collaboration with Big Spruce Brewing: a special 20th anniversary beer – “Save the Drama For Your Mama” Organic Pale Ale!
