The Creative Equity Microgrants are offered to BIPOC writers and writers with disabilities to support paid writing time, development workshops or other necessary steps to take your performing arts project to the next level! Whether you need expenses covered for a month of writing time, a mentor for consistent feedback, or theatre space to dream and explore with collaborators, the Writers’ Circle Creative Equity program will support your artistic needs.
Microgrants range from $500-$4000. This application is open to BIPOC artists and/or artists living with disability. Artists must be based in or able to commute to Kjipuktuk/Halifax to take full advantage of the program.
The jury will evaluate applications with equal consideration to these three criteria:
- The artistic quality of your work, based on the writing you submit as support material
- The clarity of your intention (the ‘why’ of the project), based on your written application
- The potential for this project to support your growth as an artist, based on your written application
The jury will also consider whether the project is feasible with the resources available.
The jury may seek additional information from applicants if needed.
