The Bus Stop Theatre Needs YOU!

The Bus Stop Theatre is one of the community organizations that can be voted for during the District 8 Participatory Budget on Wednesday July 26 from 6-8pm at the Halifax Forum. We need YOU to help us get $10,000 for important upgrades to the theatre that will provide increased accessibility and functionality.

If you live in District 8 (north End Halifax/Councillor Lindell Smith): come out to the Halifax Forum and vote between 6 and 8pm on Wednesday, July 26th.

If you don’t live in District 8: Spread the word! Tell your friends, share our social media posts, encourage Northenders in your life to come!
What is the money for?
Great question. We’re seeking funds for 4 projects.
The first is sound dampening. You might be aware that the lobby is a very resonant space, and these funds will add baffling that will better separate the two spaces.
The second is for 360 video conferencing technology. This will be used by staff for meetings as well as provided to renters. This is necessary as meetings are increasingly using a hybrid virtual/in person model.
This third is to commission a local artist to paint a mural on our exterior back wall. The new community room is receiving increased use, and the mural will both beautify the back entrance, as well as make the entrance more visible from its Maitland Street location.
Finally, we will use funds to acquire live streaming equipment. Since lockdown, and still years after, live streaming has become an increasingly popular request in the space. We are seeking this equipment to remain responsive to the needs of our membership.
