Will you #VoteArtsHRM on October 19?
Arts and culture organizations across the municipality—including ours—are asking candidates for Halifax council and mayor to commit to supporting our vibrant arts and culture sector. We’re calling on all candidates to commit to:
Becoming a leader in funding arts and culture activities.
Increasing supply of varied, accessible artistic venues and cultural production facilities.
Ensuring equitable access to diverse arts learning opportunities for all citizens, in and out of schools.
Building an HRM where everyone can participate in thriving arts and culture activities.
You can read more about our goals for a strong, sustainable, municipally-supported arts and culture sector here. And you can help us get the word out. This fall, when you’re enjoying a film screening, festival event, dance or theatre performance, live music or literary events, snap a selfie and post it with the hashtag #VoteArtsHRM
And when you meet candidates for council or mayor, please ask them about their commitment to our goals for a strong, sustainable, municipally-supported arts and culture sector in Halifax, and tell them you’re voting arts in this election.
