PAY: 35 hrs/week
All applicants must be under 30 years of age to qualify as this position is offered as a part of the Canada Summer Jobs program, an initiative to provide youths under 30 with paid summer employment opportunities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Operations Assistant is responsible for summer rental and fundraising activities. These include:
- Client relations.
- Data collection and statistical analysis.
- Both internal and external communication.
- General maintenance.
Furthermore, the Operations Assistant is responsible for planning and executing the Bus Stop Theatre’s summer fundraising event. The tasks related to this project include:
- Event planning and design.
- Promotion.
- Coordinating volunteers and performers.
- Running a budget for the event.
- Liaising with the board, staff, and committees of the Bus Stop Theatre Co-op.
In addition to raising funds for the organization, the Operations Assistant will provide an opportunity for artists of different backgrounds to perform on stage by curating a diverse program. The events are located in a fully wheelchair accessible building with gender-neutral washrooms. As such, the participants in these activities will face fewer barriers than in other performance venues. The Operations Assistant will also be responsible for reaching out to underrepresented communities, visible minorities, and newcomers to Canada through direct engagement and invitations to summer events at the Bus Stop Theatre. In this way, the position also supports the provision of services to these communities.
