PAY: 35 hrs/week

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Technical Assistant is responsible for providing technical support to artists and managing the theatre’s technical equipment inventory. The Technical Assistant will coordinate the technical aspects of event logistics in partnership with the Bus Stop Theatre’s staff and help artists and users of the theatre navigate the technical elements of show production.
Tasks associated with the position include:
- Re-configuring theatrical equipment as needed for each performance
- Keeping track of equipment inventory
- Proper storing of unused equipment
- General maintenance of the theatre and backstage areas
- General operation of theatrical equipment during live performances and events.
- Operation of theatrical lighting equipment
- Musical instrument hookup, live sound mixing and film projection.
The Technical Assistant works in a fully wheelchair accessible building with gender-neutral washrooms in a culturally diverse neighbourhood. As such, they will be collaborating with
artists and community members from diverse backgrounds, and facilitating their opportunities to either perform on stage or be participants in cultural events in a venue with fewer barriers than others. The Technical Assistant will interact with underrepresented communities, visible minorities, and newcomers to Canada through direct engagement during events. In this way, the position also supports the provision of services to these communities.
