We’re thrilled to be kicking off our 2020 season with a visit from Chicago’s spiritual jazz beacon Angel Bat Dawid. A most daring and caring vocalist, clarinetist and pianist, Angel represents the very forefront of modern jazz practices: combining melodic grooves with free-skronk, tying new techniques to historically-rooted sounds. Her stunning debut album, The Oracle, landed on year-end lists from The Wire, Pop Matters, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Vice and more! Support for this show includes local experimental vocalist NAT Chantel and chamber-jazz heavies New Hermitage.
