BoxWhatBox: Alternative acting for the 21st century
BoxWhatBox is a system of performance creation and actor training devised by Michael Devine, a Canadian theatre artist who has created and directed productions in more than 20 countries, at national theatres, international theatre festivals, and as site specific installations. In BoxWhatBox actors learn how to organize and use what they already know: the four expressive vocabularies of voice, verbal and non-verbal, and of posture and gesture. They learn how to identify and discard what holds them back: habits of mind and body. BoxWhatBox actors perform interculturally: across different cultures and genres, from established plays to original material.
