Live streaming is becoming a regular part of the new performance arts landscape, it is a useful way to get your voice out there in a time we can’t gather, but furthermore it makes your art accessible to people that this is not a new situation to. Live streaming from The Bus Stop, allows you to make full use of the production values of a professionally equipped and staffed space, while getting your art out to a potentially wider audience.
This workshop will be a primer on live streaming your shows at the Bus Stop. it will cover how to set up the space, hook up the necessary cameras and audio equipment, set up your computer, use the OBS streaming software, as well as captioning your events.
About Your Workshop Leader:
Matt Downey (They/He) is the Technical Director of The Bus Stop Theatre Co-op. Originally from St John’s Newfoundland, they have been working for The Bus Stop in multiple capacities for 10 years. Outside (and inside) the Bus Stop they are a lighting and set designer and queer theatre and circus artist, working with companies such as The Villians Theatre, Xara Choral Theatre, Halifax Pride, Workshirt Operahouse, Halifax Fringe, Halifax Summer Opera and Mayworks. Matt is so happy to finally see the Bus Stop own itself and is excited for the possibilities of the future. Everyone should be able to make and see art and the safety of our continued existence is critical to helping that be a sustainable reality in this city
