Autobiographical Fiction & Improv for Storytelling Workshop

March 4 @ 4:30 pm - 10:00 pm

March 4th at 4:30pm-7:30pm – Improv for Storytelling Workshop – $30 (includes admission to the show afterwards)

WHAT WILL THE WORKSHOP BE ABOUT?
You’ve seen Autobiographical Fiction at the Fringe Festival and you want to try your hand at this groundbreaking format? You’re an improviser looking to add a couple of things to your yes-and toolbelt? You’re an international spy with sensitive military secrets on the run from the government and you need to lay low for a few hours? We got just the thing!

Logan Robins and Olivier Blais are hosting a special, one time only workshop at the Bus Stop Theatre dissecting the format for their show. In this workshop, they will lead you through helpful creative exercises, discuss the strategies and difficulties of doing a solo improvised show and guide you through performing a small, shortened version of the show. By the end of this workshop, you’ll know how our brains work when we sweat on stage: which is great because a workshop ticket also gets you a ticket to the show! What a steal!

Through different creative exercises we will explore focus, connectivity, world building, storytelling and more. Because of the limited class size we look forward to meeting each participant where they are at to help them build skills, confidence, and to have FUN! Space is extremely limited- so don’t delay!

SHOULD I BRING ANYTHING?
Please wear clothing that you are comfortable moving around in and bring a reusable water bottle, lunch/snacks, and a playful spirit!

March 4th at 8pm – Autobiographical Fiction – $12 students/seniors/artist/underwaged & $20 general admission

The snow is melting, the groundhog is sunbathing, and spring is just around the corner… and so is the dreaded spring cleaning! But this dreary task is a lot more fun with the Unnatural Disaster Theatre Co’s “Autobiographical Fiction” featuring Logan Robins & Olivier Blais!

WHAT IS AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL FICTION?

Autobiographical Fiction
is an entirely improvised solo show created by the audience (including you)! Before each of the two acts begin the audience will have a chance to fill the stage with a wide array of costumes and props while also filling out sticky notes with prompts, lines, song recommendations, and more! This is a chance to be creative, collaborative, and a little silly as you unleash your inner playwright/director/set designer/sound designer/costume designer!

*Audience participation is never mandatory. You’re safe. We promise…

SHOULD I BRING ANYTHING?

As a matter of fact… Yes (if you’d like to)!! It is the perfect time for Spring Cleaning!

While we will provide sticky notes and writing utensils (and some props/set) we would love you to bring something from home that you would like to donate (great way to start clearing that messy attic or garage)! Whether it be a winter-coat you’ve outgrown or a coffee table that has never quite worked in your living room, we are accepting donations of any non-perishable item which will be used in the show and then cleaned, delivered, and donated by UDTCo. to Out of the Cold Community Association (and other charitable organizations).

That’s right! You can clear some much needed space in the house, get a head start on spring cleaning, while contributing to Autobiographical Fiction and a great cause (talk about a win/win/win, huh?)!
