Back by popular demand, the Future of Funny answers the question on all of our minds these days: Who’s funnier, artificial intelligence or humans?
In an evening of dystopian comedy set in the year 2069, six of Halifax’s top stand-up comedians (Kyle Barnet, Jordan Foisy, Luba Magnus, Robbie Vino, Steve Mackie and Dan Hendricken) will perform their best stand-up comedian routines, then hand over their set-lists to the founder of the comedy-tech startup GiGGLE, Nick Martinello.
The joke lists will be used as AI prompts to generate parallel comedy routines performed by the CyBoys; half-human, half-machine joke slingers. The audience will vote on whether human comics are obsolete and subject to “termination” in the most gruesome way possible.
