Performed and Written by Hugo Dann, with Rosemary Gilbert (90 Min, Bus Stop Theatre)
The Queer Ages of Hugo Dann explores the life of its author/performer from 1966 to the present day. The queer theatre artist and activist traces the connection between his life in the theatre and his coming of age as a gay artist. The play explores the disintegration of his family as a result of his father’s closeted homosexuality, his discovery of sex in the heady first years of of LGBTQ+ liberation, the years of violence and plague, right up to massacre in Orlando and beyond. Along the way it tracks the changes in Canadian attitudes and political responses to Queer/Trans peoples.
