The Tar Sands Songbook is a documentary play that asks us to reconsider our unseen relationships with oil. Tanya Kalmanovitch knows these relationships all too well. Born in Fort McMurray, Alberta, she made her decision to become a musician as a teenager because “it had nothing to do with oil.” The in-progress reading will be accompanied by music by Tanya and Norm Adams. This special event will be followed by a facilitated discussion entitled “Oil: where we go from here and how do we heal”.
Tanya Kalmanovitch is a virtuoso violist, a teacher, environmental activist, writer, and a Canadian! Tanya will be in Halifax March 2 and 3 for performances, presented by suddenlyLISTEN. The Tar Sands Songbook, co-presented by Halifax’s Ecology Action Centre.
This special event will be a fundraiser for the continued work of the Ecology Action Centre.
