Csaba Kanyasi grew up in Hungary and started playing drums when he was 15. He moved to Canada in 1993 and was lucky enough to perform many different genres of music on the east coast and beyond. At present, with his music his interest lies in traditional jazz which influences with Latin /Flamenco/World music flavors.
Csaba has been playing music for over 40 years. Jazz is his main passion, he performs with his group ,The Csaba Kanyasi quartet.
A resident of Halifax Nova scotia, Canada, was born in Hungary where he attended the Béla Bartók Jazz College in Budapest.
Later he started studying Jazz at Macquarry University in Adelaide, Australia.
Since moving to Canada, Csaba has performed with a great number of talented musicians.
Csaba also being part of quite a few jazz festivals and other musical shows across Canada.
At present, Csaba is teaching at the Maritime Conservatory Halifax, and keeps working on his unique style on the drum set. Infusing some of his favorite genres of music, and trying to utilize those genres in some jazz standards. His primary instrument is the drum set. But he is also familiar with some different hand percussion instruments.
